The vision ’ s stated intent of “... increasing the sustainable competitiveness of our real sector ...” further prompts the federation members to cooperate and take initiatives on the subject .
and to create awareness in order to be a pioneer in the field of civil society . Ethics in the life of civil society is one of the concepts that will never lose its importance as the world develops and changes . Although it will never lose its importance , the challenge here is not the importance or expectation , but the application of ethics . Ethical Business Life , our project that regulates ethical principles in civil society and business life for SEDEFED has emerged accordingly .
Within the scope of our Ethical Business Life project , which emerged from the idea of creating ethical codes in civil society life , we held our Ethical Business Life Workshop in two online sessions on February 17 , 2022 , in cooperation with TEID and KPMG Turkey . During the workshop , our members , who are representatives of leading associations in their sectors , discussed the issue of ethics in the field of civil society with the guidance of TEID representatives and the KPMG Turkey team . In line with the answers given by our members who discussed the questions that constitute the
building blocks of ethical principles in civil society life , such as what should be considered by associations in their member acceptance processes , how should the relationship be between the members operating in the same sector , which sanctions should be applied to the members who are found not to comply with their ethical principles and with what kind of mechanism . From these issues , a workshop report was prepared , as a joint product of SEDEFED , TEİD and KPMG Turkey .
“ SEDEFED Ethical Principles ” and “ Business Ethics Principles for the Benefit of Associations ” were prepared with the results of the workshop report . Our main goal in preparing these two different ethics documents is to set forth the ethical rules expected to be followed by SEDEFED members within the scope of the federation and also to ensure that member associations which have not documented their ethical principles or do not have an internal formation for this purpose develop and disseminate their own ethical rules
and mechanisms to protect these ethical rules .
Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Edward F . Hennessey has said that “ Ethics should start at the top of an organization .” The Federation of Sectoral Associations ( SEDEFED ) acts with the vision of being one of the world ’ s leading sectoral association representatives by contributing to the strengthening of the sectors and related organizations it represents since the day it was founded . In order to be true to those principles , our first and primary goal has been to assume a leading role in the field of civil society by contributing to the development of our member associations and the environment we are in . Accordingly , it is one of our most important duties to develop and apply the ethical principles that exist in all life areas to civil society life and to ensure the sustainability and protection of these ethical principles
