OSAH Regulations have more complete health and welfare aspects
construction industry in Malaysia . CWDM is more complete as it covers health and welfare , as well as safety . It is designed to improve OSH in construction projects , rather than prescribe specific control measures for risks in construction sites . CWDM will also ensure that occupational risks throughout the project ’ s lifecycle are effectively managed . These risks include foreseeable risks during the operation and maintenance of a building or structure .
As in OSHCIM , CWDM places legal duties on the client , designer and contractor involved in a construction project to plan , manage , monitor and co-ordinate OSH during the project . It aims to reduce accidents and ensure that construction work is carried out safely and efficiently . The
OSHCIM Guidelines that were published in 2017 will be revised and will serve as a practical guide to CWDM .
Effects of CWDM on engineers
The importance of engineers in OSH has been recognised in BOWECS and many other regulations under the Factories and Machinery Act 1967 . This is seen in many requirements , particularly in regulations , whereby the design and specification of several temporary structures are required to be prepared by PEPC . The role of engineers can also be found in the design , manufacture and operation of machinery such as the steam engineer , the
