Upon completing this module , a BTP is expected to understand the regulations involved when handling medical equipment . Only after completing all four modules , will a BTP be qualified for an assessment .
BTP COMPETENCY LEVEL
According to the Handbook on Competency in BEMS MOH , competency for maintenance level is divided into three levels : Level 1 , Level 2 and Level 3 ( Figure 3 ).
A Level 1 BTP is expected to be able to do first-line repair , which involves identifying and performing breakdown and corrective maintenance of the medical devices at the point of care [ 7 ].
A BTP , at this level , is expected to carry the scope of the repair as listed below :
● Breakdown response
● Equipment resetting and general checking
● Common repairs such as replacement of light bulbs , batteries , probes , electrodes , tubing and equipment consumables .
● Troubleshoot and repair minor defects related to the power supply
● Spare parts identification [ 7 ]
