CONCLUSION
A ROV operation is an interesting experience for anyone who loves challenges and adventures . In most circumstances experienced engineers not only deal with office activities but over the time , they get involved in the offshore environment so that they can grasp the entire knowledge of the ROV world .
Getting to know and be familiar with the ROV systems from zero is one challenge but getting to know the people in the game is a big bonus for anyone who plans to stay in the ROV business .
In the recent past the oil and gas market has been fluctuating and this has indirectly affected most ROV operators . Although some are still functioning well , others are in a ‘ survival mode ’ due to reduced activities especially new exploration and development .
Having said that , we should see a new trend in ROV applications especially in the Southeast Asia region renewable energy areas such as offshore wind farms . China and USA are actively
building wind farms at the moment . It is hoped that Malaysia will soon start to develop its own wind farm to replace fossil energy so that the function of the ROV can be broadened with this new industry .
