Conservation Management Plan ( CMP ) to protect heritage sites and buildings . The CMP will be a legal document that can be referred to together with a Special Area Plan ( RKK ) and a District Local Plan ( RT ) in order to co-ordinate the next steps in the development of heritage buildings and sites . Everyone is encouraged , and in fact must inform the Government whenever they encounter or know of any offence under the Act to heritage sites and buildings .
What ’ s Next ?
Awareness of National Heritage Act 2005 among the public is happily increasing . Thanks to social media and the local authorities for making people more alert to the importance of heritage . The UNESCO World Heritage recognition of our heritage sites has increased awareness among the public .
Currently , four sites in Malaysia are listed under UNESCO World Heritage as show in Table 3 .
In recent years , the number of visitors to UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the country ( see Table 4 ) have increased , except for 2020 when the pandemic affected everyone . This shows that our heritage sites have a lot of potential and definitely will bring more value to the country . However , to achieve more , everyone must get involved . The next steps will require strategic planning of human resources , co-operation between the local authorities , NGOs , law enforcers , and all relevant Government departments . Two heads are better than one . More and more public awareness and involvement in heritage issues will help to achieve the objectives of National Heritage Act .
