MUSIC

Berlin has always had a vibrant music scene, and despite the existence of major venues like O2 Arena and the Waldbühne, it’s the plethora of small clubs through the city that make Berlin’s music scene what it is. And as well as the hundred bands passing through each night, we’re also constantly amazed by the huge number of talented bands based in the city, with this year's standout bands being Kitty Solaris, Von Wegen Lisbeth, Pickers and Bunny Suit. .

Berlin has always been a city that cherishes individuality, and it’s also turning into the indie fashion capital of Europe. Milan and Paris may have the big fashion houses and the shows that reflect them, but in Berlin it’s about your look rather than an eponymous style imposed on you by jetset fashion designers whose shoes never touch the street. indieberlin is honoured to take part in the conversation and to celebrate the individual.

LIFESTYLE

What is the indieberlin lifestyle? indieberlin is in the end a city of mind. It’s defined anew each and every day – not by us, but by the people of Berlin, living, working, playing and showing themselves exactly how they feel most expresses who they are. Independent-minded, cosmopolitan, eager for new experiences, refusing to allow advertisers and supposed tastemakers to tell them what they should think, Berlin is resolutely indie. Berlin is indieberlin.

From the 90s when there was a gallery every twelve metres to nowadays when the Berlin art scene has grown up and truly found itself, Berlin is the place where you can experiment and find your own style. While rent prices have jumped in the last years, Berlin is still a European capital city where artists of every persuasion can afford to have space and time to find inspiration without having to scramble after the dollar all the time, and it shows in the huge variety and individuality of art that comes out of this town.
