Making a living here is still quite challenging. The slams always have amazing prize money on offer but as for a fixed income ‘Miss Kiki’ is the only event that lines our pockets. A movement is being put in place in 2014 to correct this. Having said all of that, most of the poets I know including myself really do not care about the money, I personally perform for my own clarity, as if the poetry I write helps me work through issues I might have at the time, others do it for the rush while some only wish to share their work with anyone willing to listen.
The following for poetry has grown tenfold in the last year. As mentioned before the willingness the audience brings to the table is inspiring and it never fails to feed
Lingua Franca host several shows a month including a Sunday session in Delft. Then there are always new events popping up. Culture Clash, Xpression Session, Soul Craft and Poetics to name a few.
