YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES
Programs that help youth and young adults thrive and succeed are a shared priority . Community feedback from BVHP teenagers , seniors , parents , business leaders and even adults without children suggests support and enthusiasm for investing in career and educational opportunities for the next generation .
Many of these opportunities overlap with previously established areas of focus in the Park plan , including safe parks and open spaces ; career mentorship , job opportunities and entrepreneurship support ; and arts programming .
Additionally , park programming and the creation of physical spaces — where dance troupes can practice , summer job fairs can be held , and social groups can gather and organize — are also major components of the plan that will further this mission .
Support for existing leadership programs and the expansion of new ones are also needed to give young people opportunities to develop interpersonal skills ; give them a voice and a platform to tell their stories and share their perspectives ; and encourage them to be active in their communities .
