LUXURY LIVING
“ Cabin Heyns is more than a mountain cabin. It is a crafted sanctuary where architecture, engineering, and nature exist in harmony.”

Designed as a private retreat, Cabin Heyns was envisioned as a place where occupants could disconnect from everyday life, immersed in the spectacular Western Cape landscape.

The TRC Fidem projects showcases meticulous planning, precision craftsmanship, and a collaborative approach between architect, client, and contractor. Every aspect was
carefully considered to ensure the home reflected the original architectural vision while responding to the challenges of the steep terrain.
The design embraces simplicity through bold geometric forms and a restrained material palette. Clean horizontal lines, large expanses of glazing, and carefully framed outdoor spaces create a timeless modern aesthetic that feels appropriate for its surroundings. Rather than competing with the landscape, the building becomes an extension of it.
One of the defining characteristics of Cabin Heyns is its relationship with the site. Positioned to maximise panoramic mountain views while minimising disturbance to the natural terrain, the home appears to float above the landscape. The elevated structure reduces excavation requirements and leaves indigenous vegetation largely untouched.
The mountain site presented significant engineering and logistical challenges. Access to the property required careful planning throughout the construction process, with deliveries, material storage, and sequencing of works requiring detailed coordination. Despite these complexities, TRC maintained strict quality control and delivered a structure that combines structural integrity with refined architectural detailing.
