SUMMER

BY BYRON LUKAS
As Lucky Fish Get Lucky Summer returns for another season, liveelectronic band GoodLuck is ready to bring feel-good festival energy back to the Western Cape.

Celebrating its 14th year, the much-loved festival returns with a fresh look, new experiences, and feel-good energy. Travelling through Cape Town, Plett, Knysna, and Hermanus, Lucky Fish Get Lucky Summer has become a festive-season institution.

We caught up with Jules Harding, GoodLuck cofounder and creative director of Lucky Fish Get Lucky Summer, about levelling up the festival, bringing people together, and what fans can expect.
GET LUCKY SUMMER HAS REACHED A SERIOUS MILESTONE. WHAT DO YOU THINK KEEPS PEOPLE COMING BACK YEAR AFTER YEAR?“ It’ s a combination of all of those things. There’ s something quite magical about summer in South Africa! It’ s all about being outside, surrounded by your friends and family, listening to live music as the sun goes down. It feels like home to us!”
For Harding, the festival has become much more than a date on the entertainment calendar. Over the years, she has watched couples return as married partners and, eventually, bring their children along.
“ That’ s probably the most special thing for us. It’ s become so much bigger than a concert. It’ s this little marker in the summer calendar where everyone comes together and just has a really beautiful time.”
