Then came a river crossing around 600mm deep following the recent rains, followed by a slippery, muddy pan that required some sharp manoeuvring to keep the vehicle tracking straight. All the while, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ remained true to its DNA; rugged and ready for anything thrown at it.
Just when you think the course is over, there are some big boulders to negotiate, one wheel at a time. The route was challenging and certainly made me sweat, but it also delivered plenty of fun and laughter. The FJ performed exceptionally well, its off-road ability capturing the spirit of freedom, exploration, and authentic adventure.
Back on tar, it was smooth and comfortable, proving that everyday usability and genuine Land Cruiser toughness can coexist.
RUGGED DESIGN MEETS MODERN CHARACTER Strong horizontal lines, flared fenders, and a wide stance give the Land Cruiser FJ a sense of durability and planted confidence, while subtle design elements inspired by dice motifs introduce a more youthful, adventurous character.
At the front, it features a bold Toyota heritage grille, high-mounted square LED headlamps, rugged multi-split bumpers, durable skid plates, and prominent fender detailing.
At the rear, the FJ embraces classic off-road design cues with a rear-mounted spare wheel and sideopening rear door. This practical arrangement maximises cargo space while enhancing the vehicle’ s rugged appearance.
PROVEN PERFORMANCE AND EVERYDAY PRACTICALITY The Land Cruiser FJ is powered by Toyota’ s proven naturally aspirated 2.7-litre 2TR-FE petrol engine, producing 122kW at 5 200r / min and 245Nm at 4 000r / min. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission featuring Toyota’ s Super ECT technology.
The drivetrain has been calibrated to deliver smooth low-speed drivability, improved downhill control, enhanced throttle response, strong off-road traction, and relaxed highway cruising. A lower first gear improves
