THE GARDEN CLUB OF FOREST HILLS WELCOMES THE SEASON
Members of The Garden Club of Forest Hills are embracing the season of renewal, when gardens bloom once again.
They have been busy in their own gardens as well as public spaces throughout the borough, clearing away debris and planting fresh additions to brighten the community.
A favorite tradition has returned, with the club once again highlighting a Garden of the Month. April’ s selection featured beautiful Lenten roses( hellebores) at the home of Nathalie Picard on Burlington Road.
This year’ s programming theme,“ Talent Within,” will spotlight the expertise of club members through a variety of engaging presentations and hands-on workshops. The upcoming session in June will be a workshop where participants will create spindle birdhouses.
In addition to educational offerings, the garden club will celebrate the season with community events, including a Patriotic Garden Party in July and participation in Forest Hills Community Day— both honoring the nation’ s 250th birthday.
Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at Christ Lutheran Church, beginning with coffee and tea at 9:30 a. m. Guests are always welcome to attend and learn more about gardening, horticulture and the natural environment.

MISSION OF MERCY PITTSBURGH SETS DATES FOR FREE DENTAL AND HEARING CLINIC
Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh will host its ninth annual free dental and hearing clinic Oct. 16 – 17 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh, providing essential care to individuals and families who lack access to affordable services.
The two-day event will offer dental exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions and root canals, along with hearing evaluations and free hearing aids.
New this year is an expanded partnership with UPMC Vision Institute that can connect patients in need of vision care to a follow-up Community Vision Day on Oct. 18, offering eye exams and free eyeglasses.
Supported by hundreds of volunteers, the annual health clinic continues to meet a growing need in the region, delivering life-changing care while helping patients connect to long-term health care resources.
PITTSBURGH POWER & FITNESS FESTIVAL
The Pittsburgh Power & Fitness Festival returned to Pittsburgh May 16 – 17, bringing together elite athletes and fitness enthusiasts for a high-energy event.
Featuring competitions in bodybuilding, strongman, powerlifting, martial arts, wrestling and more— along with a largescale fitness expo— the festival also included the IFBB Pro League Pittsburgh Pro event with $ 415,000 in prize money on the line.
New additions included educational seminars and national-level events, further establishing it as a premier fitness showcase.
NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL IN JULY
The inaugural Pittsburgh Music Festival will take place July 11 – 12 at Pittsburgh Brewing Company in Creighton, bringing together a wide range of local musicians for a two-day celebration of music and community.
Organized by longtime area music leaders, the event will feature multiple stages, diverse genres and a strong lineup of regional talent, while raising funds and awareness for Band Together Pittsburgh and Autism Pittsburgh.
Building on the legacy of the Pittsburgh Blues and Roots Festival, the new event will expand its reach and create a vibrant, community-centered experience while supporting people in our region.
NORTH PITTSBURGH QUILTERS GUILD TO HOST QUILT SHOW
The North Pittsburgh Quilters Guild( NPQG) is hosting a quilt show celebrating 250 years of the United States of America from Sept. 11 – 13 at Ross Township Community Center, 1000 Ross Municipal Drive.
It will be held from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 4 p. m. on Sunday. Admission is $ 10. The show will have vendors, raffle baskets, a raffle quilt and a Treasure Chest filled with fabric and other quilting items.
