The Garden Club of Forest Hills is celebrating its centennial .

For one century , The Garden Club of Forest Hills ( GCFH ) has beautified the community and been a staple organization beloved by many .
The GCFH was established in 1923 , and strives to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening in the community to aid in the protection of native plants , trees and birds and to encourage civic plantings .
In 2019 , the club was awarded a Plant America Community Project Grant from the National Garden Club organization . This has been used to restore Main Park ’ s Hillside Garden , which was impacted by the Ardmore Boulevard culvert construction in 2018 . Native plants , both shrubs and perennials , were planted last year .
In 2017 , GCFH was awarded a grant from the Rotary Club of Forest Hills . Using the grant and matching funds , club members led the project to restore and fully replant the borough ’ s dedicated green space at the corner of Avenues A and E . The Avenues Project
