JHIS Students Pledge to say NO to Bullying and Drugs
J
efferson Hills Intermediate School students and staff , dressed in red , entered school on Monday , October 25 ready to take a stand against bullying , drugs and alcohol , as this day marked the beginning of the week-long Red Ribbon Campaign . This annual October celebration aims to empower our children to take a united stand while raising awareness about the harmful effects of bullying , alcohol , tobacco and drugs . These important messages were reinforced with daily fun-filled themes , such as “ RED-y ” ( Red Day ), “ TOO BRIGHT ” ( Neon Day ), “ PAWS-ITIVELY '' ( Spirit Wear ), “ USE OUR HEADS ” ( Crazy Hair Day ), and “ SCARE AWAY ” ( Costume Day ) in an effort to encourage our students to say NO to drugs and bullying .
JHIS students also were provided with the opportunity to participate in a coloring contest and to take a pledge by signing our Red Ribbon banner , which has been proudly displayed in our school ’ s cafeteria , where it will remain throughout the school year . In addition , various educational classroom activities were facilitated by our staff , including Officer Foulds , who was featured in our weekly announcement program . Finally , all students received corresponding bracelets as another way to show their support .
We would like to extend our sincerest appreciation and gratitude to everyone that assisted in making this week-long Red Ribbon celebration possible for our students , especially the fabulous JHIS PTA ! est Jefferson Hills
