Capital Improvement Projects
The Borough of Jefferson Hills Administration , Engineering , and Public Works Departments have worked over the past year on numerous improvement projects throughout the community . These projects are funded through tax revenues from Borough residents and businesses , as well as grants . Even through the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic this year , the Borough has still been able to complete several improvement projects to better serve the community . It is the responsibility of the Borough to not only complete and maintain our assets , but to also communicate these efforts with Borough residents .
Andrew Reilly Memorial Park T-Ball Infield Improvements
• Contractor – DuraEdge Tools & Equipment , LLC
• Total Contract Amount – $ 8,900.00
• Work was completed in April 2020
This project involved the rehabilitation of the T-Ball infield at Andrew Reilly Memorial Park . Work included regrading the existing field and redefining the turf edge so that new Infield Mix could be placed and laser graded to ensure positive drainage . A topdress material was then installed over the infield mix .
Andrew Reilly Memorial Park ADA Upgrades – Phase 1
• Contractor – Bioni Drilling , Inc .
• Total Contract Amount – $ 38,728.00
• CDBG Year 45 Grant Amount – $ 20,000.00
• Work was completed in August 2020
The project involves the installation of three ( 3 ) ADA compliant parking spots and the associated signage and striping along with ADA compliant sidewalk to provide access to the Amphitheatre and Lions Pavilion . CDBG Year 45 funding covered approximately 50 % of the construction cost associated with this work . The Borough is currently working on design for Andrew Reilly Memorial Park ADA Upgrades – Phase 2 . CDBG Year 46 funding is covering 100 % of the estimated $ 47,000.00 construction cost associated with the Phase 2 work . Work on Phase 2 is scheduled to be completed in 2021 , and involves additional ADA compliant parking spaces , an ADA compliant spectator viewing area , and ADA compliant sidewalk around the existing concession stand .
2020 Paving Program
• Contractor – A . Liberoni , Inc .
• Total Contract Amount – $ 430,000.00
TAX DOLLARS AT WORK
Project involves the milling and paving of the following roads in the Borough : Deer Park West , Fawn Drive , Antler Drive , Bambi Drive , Hillview Drive , Waterman Road East , and Frontier Drive . Work was originally scheduled to be completed in July , 2020 but was delayed due to Covid-19 . Work was substantially completed in September 2020 .
Beedle Park Concession Stand
• Contractor – Swede Construction Corporation
• Contract Amount – $ 242,000.00
• GEDF Grant Amount – $ 100,000.00
• Work Substantially completed in October 2020
Project includes the construction of a new concession stand , bathrooms , and storage building at Beedle Park . Concrete sidewalk and installation of a grinder pump station will also be included as part of this work . Borough Public Works will be extending existing utilities to the location of the proposed building .
Waterman Road East Stabilization
• Contractor – Allison Park Contractors , Inc .
• Contract Amount – $ 167,000.00
• Work to start in November / December 2020
Project includes the installation of a 130 linear foot long soil nail and shotcrete retaining wall to reinstate and stabilize a section of road that was damaged due to a landslide in April 2020 . Borough Public Works will repave the damaged section of road after the soil nail wall is installed . Work is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2020 .
Sanitary Operations & Maintenance The following projects are paid out of the sanitary sewer fund and not the general fund , meaning they are not defined as capital improvement projects . However , this is work that the Borough completes on annual basis as part of the Borough ’ s Operation and Maintenance Plan for the sanitary sewage collection and conveyance system .
2020 CCTV
• Contractor – Robinson Pipe Cleaning Company
• Estimated Contract Amount – $ 53,000.00
Project includes the cleaning and televising of approximately 19,000 L . F . of sanitary sewer interceptor situated in the area of the unnamed Tributary ( UNT ) to Lick Run between Jefferson Estates and Hunters Field and interceptor along the Beams Run Area . Work anticipated to be completed before the end of 2020 .
2020 Excavation Repairs
• Contractor – Soli Construction , Inc .
• Estimated Contract Amount – $ 70,000.00
Project includes locating and raising eight ( 8 ) sanitary manholes and the completion of three ( 3 ) remotely located sanitary sewer excavation repairs to repair structural defects in the sanitary sewer collection system identified in 2019 CCTV . Work anticipated to be completed before the end of 2020 .
2020 Manhole to Manhole Lining
• Contractor – Jet Jack , Inc .
• Estimated Contract Amount – $ 105,000.00
Project includes the installation of eleven ( 11 ) sanitary sewer cured in place full length manhole to manhole liners to correct structural defects in the sanitary sewer collection system identified in 2019 CCTV .
