Fish for Fun Day Returns to Peters Creek

Peters Creek was lined with families and plenty of excitement on Sunday, April 26, 2026, as Jefferson Hills hosted its 24th annual Fish for Fun Day.
Residents spent the morning enjoying one of the community’ s favorite spring traditions, with participants of all ages casting lines and competing for prizes awarded for the longest and heaviest catches of the day. Attendees also had the chance to enter a raffle for a complete outdoor camping essentials package. Throughout the event, attendees enjoyed hot dogs, snacks, and specialty drinks from Brews Travelers and Lennon and Emerson’ s Bobba.
Thank you to the Jefferson Hills Recreation Board for the time spent organizing the event, and to Shadlure’ s, Firewood Fellas, Borough Council, and the Mayor for their generous donations. Thank you to the Public Works Department, John for serving up approximately 400 hot dogs, and Jefferson Hills Police Department, Jefferson Hills Fire Rescue, and SouthEast Regional EMS for helping make the event safe and enjoyable.
Earth Day Cleanup Brings Community Together in Jefferson Hills
More than 40 participants spent their Saturday morning on April 18, 2026, giving back to the community during the Borough’ s annual Earth Day Cleanup. Volunteers spread out across Jefferson Hills to pick up litter and help clean public spaces and roadways. In just three hours, participants were able to collect multiple truckloads of trash.
What stood out most throughout the morning was the enthusiasm residents brought with them. From families and longtime residents to first time volunteers, participants showed up eager to help and proud to give back to their community. The overwhelming turnout and positive energy made this year’ s cleanup one of the most successful to date and a great reminder of what can happen when residents come together with a shared purpose.
The Borough of Jefferson Hills extends its sincere thanks to all the volunteers who participated, the Environmental Advisory Council for organizing the event, and the Public Works Department for assisting with cleanup operations and helping keep Jefferson Hills looking its best.

EMERGENCIES ARE UNPREDICTABLE. Your Costs Don’ t Have to Be
When emergencies happen, SouthEast Regional EMS( SEREMS) is there to respond when every second matters. As the designated ambulance provider for Jefferson Hills and several surrounding communities, SEREMS delivers critical emergency medical care to thousands of residents each year. In 2025 alone, the agency responded to more than 14,000 calls and transported over 10,500 patients.
What many residents may not realize is that emergency medical services are not fully funded through tax dollars. Agencies like SEREMS rely heavily on community support through their annual ambulance subscription program to help offset the growing costs of emergency response, medical equipment, staffing, training, and vehicle maintenance.
The subscription program provides residents with added financial protection and peace of mind in the event emergency medical services are needed. Benefits include no out-of-pocket costs for health insurance copays on emergency transports, discounts for treatment without transport, savings for uninsured residents, and free and discounted lift assists. The program also includes unlimited emergency medical transports during the coverage period.
Subscription rates for the 2026 program are $ 50 for an individual, $ 80 per household, $ 35 for a senior individual age 65 and older, and $ 50 for a senior couple age 65 and older living in the same residence. This subscription is valid from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
In addition to emergency response services, SEREMS continues investing in equipment and resources that improve patient care and community safety. Recent additions include all new stretchers, and an off-road utility cart used for special events and rescue situations.
Community participation in the subscription program directly supports the continued availability of reliable, local emergency medical care, which unfortunately continues to dwindle each year. Help them, help you! Residents interested in subscribing can visit SEREMS. com or return the subscription form they received in their mailbox.
