Community Day 2025: A Jefferson Hills Summer Tradition Continues

EASTER EGG HUNT AND FISH FOR FUN DAY RECAP
This past spring, the Jefferson Hills Recreation Board hosted two community events: the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Fish for Fun Day. Both events brought residents together for days filled with excitement, prizes, and family-friendly fun.
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, Andrew E. Reilly Memorial Park was covered with hundreds of Easter eggs for the Borough’ s youngest residents. Children from pre-K through 5th grade raced through the park in search of candy-filled eggs, while a few lucky searchers uncovered special golden eggs that contained gift cards. Families also enjoyed sweet treats from an ice cream truck, face painting, a photo backdrop, and a visit from the Easter Bunny.
Later in the month, on Sunday, April 27, 2025, the banks of Peters Creek were lined with anglers and their families for the always-popular Fish for Fun Day. It was an absolutely perfect day for this catch-and-release event. Participants were treated to hot dogs, chips, drinks, and donuts, and prizes were awarded for both weight and length in first and second place categories. Jake Steffey took top honors in both categories, with Piper Henze finishing in second. Attendees also had the opportunity to enter a raffle with great prizes, including backpacks, fishing gear, gift cards, and the grand prize: a kayak!
The day couldn’ t have been possible without the efforts of the Recreation Board, Borough Council, and Borough staff. Special thanks to John Martelloni from Public Works, as well as to Jefferson Hills Fire Rescue – Floreffe VFC Station 2, SouthEast Regional EMS, and Borough Council for their support and contributions.
Thank you to all the attendees who made both of these spring events such a success. We can’ t wait to see you again next year!
Community Day 2025: A Jefferson Hills Summer Tradition Continues
Jefferson Hills Community Day returned on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Andrew E. Reilly Memorial Park. What began with a gloomy forecast turned into a warm and sunny day filled with live performances, great food, vendors, activities, and nonstop fun.
More than 40 vendors, small businesses, and community organizations lined the park, offering handmade goods, tasty treats, and unique finds. Kids took full advantage of the inflatables, carnival-style games, and face painting, while the amphitheater hillside provided the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the day. From early afternoon into the evening, live performances by local bands Gregg Johnson, The Family Joules, and Ridgemont High, along with dance groups including RockIt Dance Studio and Dance Workshop, kept the crowd entertained. The event concluded with a fireworks display over the park, marking the close of another memorable Community Day.
The Borough would like to thank the Jefferson Hills Recreation Board for organizing this signature event, as well as to the Public Works Department, first responders, Borough Council, Mayor, volunteers, performers, and vendors whose hard work made the day a success.
Most of all, thank you to the residents who came out to celebrate what makes Jefferson Hills such a special place to live.
