West Jefferson Hills Continues Steady Climb in Regional, Statewide School Rankings

The Pittsburgh Business Times recently released its 2025 school guide rankings for the Pittsburgh region and the state. For 20 years, the publication has ranked schools based on how students performed on PSSA tests and Keystone Exams.
In the regional rankings, the West Jefferson Hills School District climbed two spots to 16th on the list of more than 100 districts. That jump is tied for the highest among schools in the top 25. In 2024, the district moved from 22nd to 18th in the rankings.
The Pittsburgh Business Times also ranked schools across the Commonwealth. West Jefferson Hills jumped six spots on the statewide list from 2024, coming in at number 44 in 2025. That increase is the second highest among Allegheny County school districts and the second highest among schools in the Pittsburgh region.
The Pittsburgh Business Times’ rankings are based on a district’ s percentage of students placing in the top two standardized test categories. Those scores are compared to its departure from the average of the set.
