TEPE PARK IMPROVEMENTS
This past spring , the Borough funded the renovation and rehabilitation of Tepe Field inside Tepe Park . The project specifically involved the rehabilitation of the infield including re-grading the existing field and redefining the turf edge . New infield mixture was added and laser graded to ensure positive drainage away from the field . Additionally , a topdress material was installed over the new infield mix . The work at Tepe recently wrapped up , and the field is already back in use .
The contractor conducting the work was DuraEdge Tools & Equipment , LLC out of Grove City , PA . The work was completed at Tepe Field in May 2021 . The total contract amount was $ 11,560.00 .
Community Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee
The Borough of Jefferson Hills is forming the Community Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee to aid in the creation of a new community comprehensive plan for the Borough . Comprehensive planning is a process that determines community goals and aspirations in terms of community development resulting in a comprehensive plan that expresses and regulates public policies on public safety , transportation , utilities , land use , recreation , and housing .
Typically , comprehensive planning strategically directs the next decade of development inside a community . To accomplish this task , the Borough is looking to its residents for help . If you have interest or expertise concerning the long-term planning of communities , we ask you to please volunteer to contribute your time ( 1-2 meetings per month until plan completion ).

BG ’ S ITALIAN ICE
Nothing quite beats a cool treat on a hot summer day . Local business BG ’ s Italian Ice provides just that to Pittsburgh , Allegheny County , and surrounding areas in Southwestern Pennsylvania . Owned and operated by Borough of Jefferson Hills resident Brandon George , BG ’ s has been serving the area for nearly two decades .
George established BG ’ s Italian Ice in 2004 . The business provided him a way to work for himself in the off months from his teaching job . BG ’ s was two mobile Italian ice carts at first , and in 2019 expanded to include its first mobile Italian ice truck . You may have seen the truck at different events throughout the Borough over the past few months ! Unlike “ snow cone ” and “ shaved ice ,” which are nothing more than syrup poured over ice , BG ’ s Italian Ice is a 100 % fat free , cholesterol free , nondairy , water-based product available in 24 flavors . The Italian ice is made with special recipes and blended in a special freeze machine to a smooth , “ creamy-like ,” consistency .

Since the pandemic put a hold on many large events during the summer of 2020 , BG ’ s had the opportunity to expand into new spaces such as athletic events , celebrations , fundraisers , community events , family reunions , birthday parties , and more .
