Kindergarten registration for the 2026 – 2027 school year is now open. The West Jefferson Hills School District is excited to welcome the newest class of Jaguars this fall. Registering your child early helps the district plan for the year ahead and ensures you will receive important updates throughout the spring and summer.

Children entering kindergarten must be five years old on or before September 1, 2026 and must reside within the West Jefferson Hills School District. Families will need to provide two proofs of residency, current immunization records, and a birth certificate. While this information will be required at the start of school, you can begin your application now even if you do not have everything ready.

WJH Foundation Grants Create Big Opportunities for Jaguars

The WJH Foundation for Education is proud to announce that this year it awarded nine grants totaling over $ 15,000, funded entirely through donations and money raised at foundation events. These grants are designed to spark innovation and enhance learning opportunities across the district. Here are a few of the exciting projects are already underway: TJHS will launch a brand-new podcast, giving students a platform to share stories and ideas. PHMS will introduce adapted cooking programs, providing hands-on culinary experiences for students. JHIS will receive a Java student bean cart, supporting student engagement in practical, creative projects. At the elementary school, Tonies audio boxes will bring stories and learning to life in libraries. The WJH Foundation for Education continues to empower teachers and students alike, turning donations into meaningful opportunities that inspire curiosity, creativity, and growth for every Jaguar.

McClellan Elementary 2nd Gradersrs Bring Ancient Greece to Life

Each year at McClellan Elementary, second-grade students explore ancient Greece through the CKLA( Core Knowledge Language Arts) curriculum. As they read engaging Greek myths, students learn about the many gods and goddesses the ancient Greeks believed in.

After completing the unit, each student chooses one god or goddess to research. They gather facts, write a short report, and prepare a presentation about their chosen figure’ s powers and role in mythology.
The unit concludes with our exciting Wax Museum event. Students dress up as their selected god or goddess and become“ living statues.” When visitors press a button, the statues come to life and share the facts they’ ve learned. It’ s a fun and memorable way to celebrate learning while building confidence and presentation skills!
