Local Author to Speak at Jefferson Hills Library
Clairton native, author and educator, Dr. Andy Nixon, will be the guest author at a program hosted by the West Jefferson Hills Historical Society, Jefferson Library and Clairton Library on Thursday, April 20 at 7 p. m. in the Borough of Jefferson Hills Municipal Center Community Room.
Nixon grew up in Clairton, and although he took Horace Greeley’ s“ Go West Young Man” advice literally by moving to Las Vegas, his roots remained firmly planted in Southwestern PA. For years he wrote the humorous and informative blog, DrForgot. com highlighting current events and historical reviews of Clairton and its residents, past and present.
In his 2013 memoir, 50 Shades of Grades, My Journey Through Wacademia. Nixon found a broad audience from the hills of Western Pennsylvania to his current home in Las Vegas as he chronicled his academic pursuits from childhood through adulthood.
In his recent book, Three Lives of Peter Novak, Nixon brings the history of the Monongahela River steel towns alive with the story of the intriguing adventures of an immigrant from Bosnia.
Advance copies of Nixon’ s books are available in bound and e-book formats from Amazon. com, local bookstores or at the Library event. For more information, see andynixonwordsmith. com.
The public is invited to this free event.
