Providence Plantation Foundation is a
center for historical education of what life
was like for African Americans, Native
Americans and whites living in the area
in the 1700s. The authentic reproduction
home and out buildings were constructed
with historical accuracy.
Beulah Presbyterian Church and
Cemetery

As far back as 1758, a worship service was led
on the site of Beulah Presbyterian Church. Its
cemetery holds the graves of veterans from
Gen. Forbes’ troops, along with men who
fought in the Revolutionary War and Civil War.

The Old Stone Church

Visit a sacred space where earlier settlers of
Monroeville worshipped. The Old Stone
Church, listed on the Pittsburgh History and
Landmarks Foundation registry, was built in
1897. The structure is the site of weddings,
special events and tours.
West View Park Mural

West View Park created memories from
1906 until its closing in 1977. In 2006,
Brent Dreier, owner of Center Avenue Slice,
decided to commemorate the amusement
park on the side of his restaurant. Check out
the incredible 10 ft. x 30 ft. mural where
West View Park lives once again.
See how the first merchant of Zelienople
lived in the 1800s by touring Passavant
House. It also houses the Lester Mohr
Library, a valuable resource for researching
local history and genealogy.
Civil War Room at Andrew Carnegie

A trip to Gettysburg is nice, but you’ll be
surprised how much Civil War history you
can learn at the Civil War Room, located in
Andrew Carnegie Free Library. It houses
uniforms, weapons, musical instruments,
photos, documents and other items that
were used in the Civil War.
Carpenter Log House in Boyce Park

For 136 years the Murry/Carpenter
family lived in the two-story house. It was
incorporated into Boyce Park in 1958. The
Allegheny Foothills Historical Society
restored the house in 1979 and maintains it.
Buhl House

Tour Zelienople’s oldest existing building, the
Buhl House, built in 1805 where Christian
Buhl resided. The town’s hatter and furrier, the
house includes artifacts from the time period,
along with the family’s personal items. It now
serves as a museum and gift shop, operated by
Zelienople Historical Society.
St. Bernard Church

Sometimes referred to as the Cathedral of
the South Hills, St. Bernard Church took the
extraordinary step of sending its architect
with a party of church delegates to Burgundy,
France in order to build a church reflective
of the location and time period of the patron
saint, Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153).
