WHAT’ S NEWS IN WEST ALLEGHENY
EVERYTHING SCOTTISH!
Many area residents have Scottish roots that run deep. You can celebrate this heritage at Pittsburgh’ s Tartan Day event on Saturday, April 11, at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Bethel Park.
It is sponsored by the St. Andrew’ s Society of Pittsburgh, and this year will also celebrate the 250th anniversary of both the United States of America and Bethel Presbyterian Church!
The fun begins at 10 a. m. and runs until 4:30 p. m., with free admission and parking.
There will be many vendors selling Scottish goods and memorabilia, information on the clans of Scotland, workshops, great food, raffles, and entertainment— including, of course, bagpipers!
Proceeds from the event benefit the St. Andrew’ s Society Scholarship Fund. For more information, visit standrewspittsburgh. org.
SUPPORT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHILE HAVING FUN!
Imperial VFD Bingo Night is a great way to visit with your friends and neighbors for a fun evening supporting a local fire department!
All proceeds go to support these brave men and women in their work, answering the call to care for their community.
The next opportunity to play Bingo will be Monday, April 27, at the Activity Center, Upper Level, at 310 Main Street in Imperial. Doors open at 6 p. m. and Bingo starts at 7.
Admission is restricted to those 18 years of age and older.
The cost is $ 10 per packet, which includes three cards for each regular game and one triple card for each special game. Additional cards can be purchased.
COFFEE WITH COPS
Meet people who protect our communities every day, along with department and Findlay Township officials on Thursday, April 30, from 6 to 8 p. m. at the Municipal Building on Route 30 in Clinton.
This is a great way to learn more about the police department, and how its members serve and protect. Tours will be given and refreshments will be provided.
SPRING VENDOR SHOW!
Janoski’ s Farm & Greenhouse will host a two-day event May 2 & 3, from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. The show will feature talented local crafters and vendors, including Little Birdies, Pebble & Petal Creations, Peppermill Crafts, Burke Candle Company, The Blind Date Book Lady, and many more!
KIDS FISHING DERBY!
Fishing is such a wonderful lifelong pastime, and so much fun for kids! This year will be the 30th Annual Kids Fishing Derby, a great local tradition for many families.
Get your rods and reels ready for Saturday, May 23, and the excitement at Leopold Lake in Imperial from 7 to 11 a. m.
The derby is open to Findlay Township residents age 15 and younger. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish in each of four age categories: 5 and under, 6 to 8, 9 to 11, and 12 to 15.
The event is free, but you must bring your own rod, reel and bait. Adult supervision is required for participants age 9 and under.
