‘ INSPIRED WOMEN PAYING IT FORWARD ’ LAUNCHES IN THE SOUTH HILLS
On Oct . 24 , the very first meeting of Inspired Women Pittsburgh South took place at Hyatt Place , Meadowlands . Kym Gable , of KDKA news , is the leader of the chapter , which will raise money at quarterly Happy Hour Meetings for nonprofits benefiting women and girls locally and globally .
“ I ’ m beyond excited to help launch this first replication of an amazing model that can really make a difference for women and girls in need . I ’ m surrounded by such dedicated , selfless women who spend countless hours volunteering and fundraising , but for some , the time and energy it takes can be a challenge . This concept just spoke to me because of its efficiency and commitment to women ,” said Gable .
The mission of this new powerhouse giving circle is to create a space for women who have more in their lives to take action on behalf of women who have less .
Inspired Women Paying it Forward is open to anyone who is interested in combining forces with like-minded women who ’ ve agreed to make a quarterly donation of only $ 100 . The impact will be significant for the one women ’ s 501 ( c )( 3 ) charity nominated and selected by the membership ’ s majority vote each quarter . Two of the quarterly meetings ’ donations will go to local women ’ s charities , while the other two will be for initiatives with a more global focus .
At each meeting , the names of three nominated charities will be drawn . The members championing those organizations will make a short appeal on their behalf . One deserving charity will then be selected through a majority vote , at which point every member writes a check for $ 100 made out directly to that charity . One-hundred percent of every check goes directly to the selected nonprofit !
There is a cash bar and food available at each meeting , so members stay to take advantage of the fantastic networking opportunity . There is no need to RSVP and the only commitment is $ 400 per year ($ 100 per quarter ).
Inspired Women Paying it Forward started in the North Hills in 2015 , and has raised over $ 50,000 for deserving , women-centered charities . The leader of that chapter , Debra Dion Krischke , has been instrumental in helping Gable and her committee of volunteers establish a presence in the South Hills . Chabad of the South Hills presents the 5th Annual South Hills Lights Community Chanukah Celebration at the Galleria Mt . Lebanon , upper level , on Wednesday , Dec . 13 , at 6 p . m . There will be live entertainment , lighting of a 12‐foot Menorah , Klezmer music , food , raffle prizes and more . The event is free and open to the public .
