Volunteer Profiles
Pathways has a stellar team of dedicated volunteers who perform
numerous tasks that help patients and staff immensely. We’d like to
spotlight two incredibly special volunteers: Michelle and Diana.
Michelle S.
Michelle first started working with Pathways three years ago and
has been a devoted volunteer ever since! She became involved with
Pathways because her mother received care 13 years ago, and she
wanted to give back in a unique way.
Michelle provides encouragement and a positive presence to Pathways’
clients as a greeter desk volunteer. In addition, she serves a companion
once a week. Her favorite part of volunteering is the interaction she
has with those who are going through a difficult time and bringing
them love and comfort when they need it the most.
Our patients and clients are lucky to have her as part of the team!
Diana L.
Diana has volunteered with Pathways for five years, after both her mom
and dad received care at Pathways. You might know her as the “Copy
Room Queen,” as she helps out tremendously in administrative roles,
including office work for the admissions team and human resources
department.
Diana enjoys her work as a volunteer because of how much she values
the mission and services of Pathways. She knows from personal
experience that the end of life can be difficult and unfamiliar, and she
wants to help ensure that these services are available to anyone in the
community who needs them.
“If I can help with the housekeeping work, then that gives nurses
and other clinical staff more time to do what they do best – care for
patients,” she said.

Pathways Opens
Children’s Healing
Garden
After much anticipation, Pathways is
excited to announce that we have officially
opened our Children’s Healing Garden! This
momentous occasion was celebrated at a
well-attended Grand Opening event on Oct.
27 that included tours, face painting, art
activities, storytelling and more.
The Garden is located at Pathways’ Fort
Collins location and includes several unique
features, such as an oversized “bird’s nest”
with an “eggs” seating area for one-on-
one counseling, a memory garden, sand
play area, steps for moving between tiers,
a mandala area for art therapy and many
more. The Garden will serve hundreds of
grieving and ill children in the northern
Colorado community, who will use this area
as a welcoming space to explore complex
emotions in a natural environment.
Plans for the Children’s Healing Garden
were first announced at the end of 2016
with the launch of a $500,000 capital
campaign to fund the project. Thanks to
the generosity of numerous individuals and
businesses, the campaign was completed
in early 2018, and the Garden broke ground
in spring 2018. The FronTerra Group led
the architectural design of the Garden,
and WaterWise Landscaping executed the
landscaping.
Thank you to the many generous
individuals and organizations who made
this unique project possible.
