Ashley Godfrey
Senior at Estrella Foothills High School
Tell our readers about your most recent acceptance to BYU.
It’s exciting to know that I don’t have to worry about trying to find
a college to further my education. That all I have to do is worry
about finishing out high school, playing my last high school and
club softball seasons, and making memories.
What did you do when
you found out that you
got accepted on a fullride softball scholarship?
When my coach (Coach
Eakin) met with me and
my parents, in his office,
and told me my scholarship amount my sophomore year, I looked at my
parents thinking no way
this is real. It didn’t sink
in at all because I really wasn’t sure if I heard
right. When we left my
coaches office, I asked my
parents what my scholarship actually meant
and they both looked at
me and told me it was
pretty much everything
and I screamed in the car
because I never imagined
it being this real.
Are you scared to leave home
for college?
I am scared to leave home because
I am leaving my family behind
and it will be hard not being able
to watch my sister and
brother play in all their
sporting events or even
be home with them
every day. However,
I’m going where I have
family all around me;
my grandparents,
aunts and uncles
live just a little over
an hour away in
Grantsville and I have
cousins in Provo,
American Fork, and
Pleasant Grove areas.
What will you be
studying at BYU?
I’ll be studying in the
Exercise Science
field. I do not know
exactly what I want
to major in but I’m
thinking more of the
Physical Therapy
and Rehabilitation or
maybe even Strength
and Conditioning.
What other activities are you involved
in at your school?
I’m involved and have lettered in volleyball, soccer, and
softball. I’m also a part of the Superintendent’s Student
Advisory Council (SSAC), where we participate in community service for and through the schools in our district as well as our feeder schools (elementary schools)
and our communities. Z
