There is something special about the word pride. It’ s a word that has been tied to South Fayette for as long as anyone can remember. It speaks to a sense of accomplishment, belonging, and shared purpose. It is also, quite appropriately, the name for a group of lions. As South Fayette Lions, our students, faculty, and staff know that we are stronger together. We know that, as a team, we can be victorious in our pursuit of common goals. Pride, at South Fayette, is alive in every classroom, in every hallway, and on every team and student organization in our schools.
Among our student-athletes, pride in themselves and their peers is obvious as they continue to achieve at the highest levels while representing our district with integrity and sportsmanship. Their success means so much more than wins and trophies – they know that, both in and out of competition, they serve as role models for our younger students. They are shining examples of dedication, resilience, and teamwork.
Pride is also evident in the many ways our students give back. From organized service projects to individual acts of kindness, their commitment to making a difference reflects the culture and values we strive to instill. These efforts show appreciation and strengthen the bonds within the community that supports our Lions always and in all ways.
We also see pride taking shape in our facilities. As the Intermediate School construction project nears completion and the bus depot earthwork is underway, we were able to recently gather to proudly break ground on the new elementary school. These investments represent our commitment to being student-centered, future-focused, and innovation-driven as we provide an exceptional educational environment for current and future generations of students.
Together, these moments, and so many more that happen on the field, in the community, and across our campus, define what it means to be part of South Fayette. To those who have worn green and white since the township was mostly farmland, to those who are donning it for the first time, and everyone in between, we thank you for being a community – a PRIDE – that supports our students and helps us in building and maintaining a district where everyone can learn, grow, and succeed.

Groundbreaking to Growth
South Fayette Township School District is in the midst of three significant construction projects to enhance learning environments across the campus and support the growing needs of students and staff. Work is progressing steadily as the Intermediate School nears completion and preliminary steps take shape at the new Bus Depot / Maintenance Facility and Elementary School.
At the Intermediate School, steel beams are now in place, and crews are actively installing floors and walls. Over the next few months, the three-story addition will begin to take shape, blending seamlessly with the building’ s existing design both inside and out. While students are already occupying the corner classrooms and orchestra room that were completed earlier in the school year, the new wing addition is on target for the start of the 2026-2027 academic year. Community members can follow along with the progress through photos and featured videos on the District website, including insights from project leaders and even a student-led interview. Exciting developments are also underway for the new Elementary School. The School Board has approved contractors, and initial planning meetings have already taken place to officially kick off the project. The new three-story building will be thoughtfully designed with gradelevel classrooms on each floor, along with flexible instructional spaces to support a variety of learning needs. Construction is expected to take approximately 30 months, with completion targeted for the start of the 2028 – 29 school year. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on the evening of April 28, and included the superintendent, school board members, representatives from the architectural firm and general contracting company, and several local dignitaries.
Meanwhile, work continues on the new bus depot and maintenance facility. The site has been cleared, and significant earthwork is in progress to prepare for utilities and proper grading. During construction, transportation operations have been temporarily relocated to the former airport site off Miller’ s Run Road through August 2027.
