Christopher Martin, Southwest Region President, Northwest Savings Bank October, Fuller planned and implemented a project to maximize the amount of floodcontributing debris removed by PWP. He established multiple drop-off points for PWP paddlers to offload debris collected along the creek and then organized a group of 19 landbased volunteers to supplement PWP’s waterbased paddlers by moving debris dropped at the established points to waiting trucks. His efforts, and those of his teams, contributed significantly to the removal of more than 5,000 pounds of debris. His work earned him his Boy Scouts of America Eagle Project, and he was featured in the 2013 winter issue of IN Chartiers Valley. “I originally joined PWP to get some extra kayaking in, but it only took one trip for me to realize the importance of what [the volunteers] do as an organization and the impact they have on the environment and communities,” Fuller expressed. “While the result of their work is significant, I felt that there had to be a better and more efficient way of pulling the incredible amounts of debris from our local waterways. This is why my work moved to the shoreline to support their efforts. Working with PWP has inspired me to be more aware of the fragileness of the environment and the impact that we have, for better or worse.” In addition to his work with PWP, Fuller is a member of Boy Scout Troop 2, through which he has participated in a Flag Retirement Ceremony in South Park and with Memorial Day Flag Placement at Melrose Cemetery in South Fayette. He also has participated in the “Wreaths Across America” program at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Cecil Township and picked up litter off of Route I-79 at the Bridgeville interchange. As if that is not enough, Fuller also volunteers for the annual South Fayette Township Department of Parks and Recreation’s Annual Sportsman Deer Hunt and with the Bridgeville Area Food Bank’s annual Christmas toy drive. “I am honored and humbled to be recognized as the IN Community Magazine’s Youth Volunteer of the Year for South Fayette Township,” Fuller said. “There are so many people out there who give their time and energy to volunteer in their local communities, and it truly is an honor to be selected from among them.” President of the Southwest Region of Northwest, Mr. Martin is responsible for the growth and profitability of the bank in southwestern Pennsylvania.
