ongratulations to our 2014 CASE Award Winners. The
awards are presented to individual volunteers, nonprofit
organizations and corporations who have demonstrated
exceptional service to the community through direct
volunteer efforts or support of nonprofits. They represent a cross
section of young and old from 25 western Pennsylvania communities.
Each awardee has exhibited extraordinary levels of service to the
community by donating their time, talents and money.

Youth Volunteer of the Year
Nathaniel (Nate) Fuller, a 16-year-old junior at South Fayette High
School, is no stranger to charitable service, support and philanthropic
leadership in his community. It’s his outstanding and ongoing
commitment both inside the classroom and out that earned him a
Community Awards of Service Excellence (CASE) Youth Volunteer of
the Year Award.
Fuller regularly volunteers to assist Paddle Without Pollution, PWP,
a local charitable organization, with removal of debris from local
and regional waterways while using canoes and kayaks. On several
occasions during his clean-up efforts Fuller noted the space limitations
imposed on paddlers when loading, securing and hauling debris and the
unfortunate inability to remove all of it from the waterway.
In September 2013, Fuller attended a Bridgeville Borough Council
meeting where the devastating effects of the Chartiers Creek flood,
which took its toll on various communities, was discussed. Knowing
that PWP had scheduled another cleanup of Chartiers Creek for
