Building for the Future of South Fayette outh Fayette SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS

Dr. Michelle Miller Superintendent of Schools
As superintendent, I have the privilege to witness extraordinary events across campus on a daily basis. Sometimes the moments are huge, such as the placement of the first beam for the new addition at the Intermediate School. Other times, they are less recognizable, like when a Lion Learner achieves a personal educational milestone.
Extraordinary moments don’ t always announce themselves. But with the tradition, pride, and excellence that is South Fayette, those moments happen consistently.
This fall, our student-athletes delivered extraordinary performances across our athletic programs, representing our district with determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The girls soccer team won the state championship and the boys golf team brought home the Class 3A WPIAL title – firsts for both teams, and we couldn’ t be more proud.
This fall, the Pittsburgh Steelers recognized both a student-athlete and a teacher at the high school for their commitment to excellence, and we celebrated our newest Alumni Hall of Fame inductees – individuals whose lasting impact reminds us that excellence at South Fayette has spanned generations.
Our largest Uncommon Conference to date brought students from across the region together to rethink stereotypes, celebrate differences, and find common passions. And, Lions are working to return the annual Glow Run to its pre-COVID glory with creative registration methods and motivations.
Our Elementary School took on an extraordinary, though delightfully unexpected, endeavor when they adopted a cow; bringing smiles, lessons, and a sense of shared joy to our community.
Each of these moments, big and small, reflects how South Fayette is student-centered, future-focused, and innovation-driven. We are so fortunate to have engaged students, supportive families, dedicated staff, and a community that shows up for one another.
Thank you for being part of our extraordinary journey.
With gratitude and pride,
Dr. Michelle Miller

Steady progress continues on multiple facilities projects at South Fayette Township School District designed to enhance learning environments, improve operations, and support long-term growth across the district. While each project is at a different phase, the collective work reflects a coordinated effort to invest in our learning community.

Intermediate School Additions
Over the winter break, teachers were able to move into the added corner classrooms and orchestra space at the Intermediate School, with students joining them when they returned to campus on January 5. Remaining finishing items were then completed outside of school hours to minimize disruption to teaching and learning. Earthwork is complete and steel structural construction is underway for the three-story wing addition closest to Old Oakdale Road. This portion of the project continues to progress toward its planned completion in time for the start of the 2026 – 27 school year.
