I
hope our South Fayette community has been enjoying a safe and relaxing summer. As we prepare for the start of the 2025- 2026 academic year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the pride and excellence that continue to define our school district.
First and foremost, congratulations once again to the Class of 2025! This outstanding group of graduates walked across the stage with hearts full of ambition and futures filled with promise. Their accomplishments— both in and out of the classroom— serve as a powerful reminder of what’ s possible when students, educators, and families work together to support learning, growth, and perseverance. Our Lion Learners continually serve as an inspiration, and I cannot wait to follow the paths that our most recent alumni will take into their futures.
Even during the summer months, our district remains vibrant with activity. From STEAM, wellness, and community-based programs, athletic camps and conditioning, onboarding of new faculty, and leadership training workshops, students and staff alike are continuing to engage, learn, and grow. Our buildings are also buzzing with preparation. Of course, there’ s the obvious construction taking place at the Intermediate School, but there’ s
even more happening inside our buildings including the pool upgrades at the Middle School, deep cleaning and updates across campus, planning for new facilities, and even curriculum development. Every step and every project helps us lay the groundwork for an exceptional 2025 – 2026 school year.
The leadership team and I have been looking deep within ourselves this summer to evaluate how we can best serve our students and their families. By combining our passions, talents, and world-views and examining where and how we believe we can truly make a difference for our Lion Learners, we aim to bring new opportunities to our Lions and help them discover and nurture the gifts that they each have to share with the world.
I hope that all of our families and students share with me the joyful anticipation of a new school year. We are especially excited to cheer on our fall sports teams as they return to competition with energy and Lion pride. Let’ s all come together to support them and every learner in our district. I can already tell that this will be another phenomenal year in which we showcase how South Fayette Township School District is student-centered, futurefocused, and innovation-driven.
Enjoy the sunshine and stay well.

CAMPUS EXPANSION IS UNDERWAY
While summer months on the district campus can often be quiet, with the exception of camps and practices, the summer of 2025 has been transformative – and it’ s just the beginning. To satisfy enrollment and programmatic needs, three construction projects are underway. The past few months have included visible progress on the additions and renovations to the Intermediate School( grades 3- 5) while plans for a new K-2 Elementary School and new bus depot / maintenance building have edged closer to their final stages.
With needed expansion in Kindergarten through fifth grade, the first step has been to add on to the Intermediate School. Its original design was created to easily accommodate additions in three areas: a new wing on the side closest to Old Oakdale Road, an added classroom to each floor on the back corner of the existing academic wing, and the enclosure of a top floor patio space and conversion into an orchestra room. As we approach the start of the new school year, significant progress has been made in the building of the new wing which is anticipated to be ready for occupancy by the start of the 2026-27 school year. Work remains on schedule for the corner classrooms and orchestra space to be completed in January 2026.
Teachers and administrators have been meeting regularly with the architectural firm, DRAW Collective, to design a new elementary school that will best suit the needs of our K- 2 Lion Learners. Plans also include tennis courts and an additional turf field which will satisfy athletic programs district-wide. The new facilities will break ground at the site of the existing bus garage on the district campus.

Expectations are for this new learning center to open with the 2028- 29 school year.
The location of the new elementary school and needed updates dictate movement of the bus garage and district maintenance facilities to the former Dimun property across Old Oakdale Road from the Middle School. The most recent plans are shown here. Construction should begin in the spring, and anticipated occupancy is scheduled for fall of 2027.
The district welcomes all interested community members to follow the progress of these projects on the district website where monthly summaries, design plans, and progress photos are available and will be updated throughout the length of the three projects.
