PREVENTING LITTER – WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS !
Littering is a serious problem in Shaler Township . We need to work together to prevent litter because random discarded trash , even items as small as cigarette butts , endangers our environment , our wildlife , and our economy .
As Shaler residents , we cannot afford the cost of littering because it pollutes our streams , decreases our property values and cleaning it up wastes our tax dollars . Littering can also result in costly fines for litter law violators . Much of the litter in the Township is the result of trash being thrown out of cars .
Call the Police Department on Litterbugs : 412.492.2222 .

CARING BEARS
The Glenshaw Century Club provided over 300 Caring Bears to Shaler ' s incoming kindergarten students for the second year in a row . Teachers received a caring bear tea towel .
The club has made several thousand Bears over the years starting by making the Bears to support children in crisis situations in conjunction with Children and Youth Services . Support was expanded to include local police , fire departments and hospitals . The focus the last two years suggested by Suzi Fisher and spearheaded by committee chair Donna Mastandrea was to provide caring Bears to the new kindergarteners .
The bears were such a success , the club was interviewed by Meghan Schiller of KDKA news . Go to KDKA and search for " Caring Bears or " The Glenshaw Century Club " to catch the interview .
