VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS REMINDER! CHANGE YOUR SMOKE AND CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR BATTERIES WHEN YOU CHANGE YOUR CLOCKS. CHERRY CITY VFC 100 Year Anniversary Cherry City VFC started from humble beginnings in October of 1919 with 41 charter members in a school house that we moved from the bottom of Seavey Road up to our present location. We have faithfully served our community for 100 years and those who border us with dedication, integrity, experience, and the strong desire to constantly improve our equipment and training. It started with a hand-drawn hose carriage purchased from Etna to the latest in fire suppression and vehicle/rope/water rescue. Over the last century, more than 700 members of our community have sacrificed their time and energy to make sure our residents are safe from any harm they may encounter. None of this would have been possible without the support of Shaler Township, State, and Federal authorities along with the members of our little but tight-knit community, who have supported all of our fundraisers and endeavors. We are constantly planning for our future into the next century of service, updating our core values and the needs of our community without losing the focus of our motto from 1919, “Always Ready, Always Willing”.
