VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR SHALER TOWNSHIP FIRE POLICE
Shaler Township is currently looking to fill vacant positions in
the Shaler Township Fire Police organization. Members of the
Fire Police also need to hold a membership with one of the six (6)
volunteer fire departments. Any interested persons are asked to
contact the Shaler Township Police Department 412.492.2222 or

EASTERN COYOTE IN THE REGION
The Shaler Township Police Department is aware of coyotes in
the area. Numerous sightings have been reported and confirmed
throughout the Township. There is no need to report a sighting to
the police unless the animal poses a public safety hazard.

RULES OF THE ROAD - VEHICLES TURNING LEFT:
The driver of a vehicle intending to turn left within an
intersection or into an alley, private road or driveway shall yield
the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite
direction which is so close as to constitute a hazard. Please always
use caution when turning left as traffic coming in the other
direction usually has the “right of way”.
PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK BOX
The Shaler Township Police Department now
has a Prescription Drug Take Back Box available
in the lobby of the Police Department.
Residents may now drop off prescription
drugs or over-the-counter medications.
Regular Collection is 8:30 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Arrangements may be made for
after‑hours by calling 412.492.2222.
The following stipulations apply
for the use of the box.
• Medications, whether
prescription or over-thecounter, from households
are accepted.
• Medications may be disposed
of in the original container or in
a sealed plastic bag.
• Liquids must remain in the original container.
• No needles, syringes or lancets shall be placed in the drop
box.
The box was provided thanks to the PA Department of Drug
and Alcohol Programs (DDAP).
