STEM Day Success at Scott Primary!
Scott Primary students spent a full day rotating through hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math stations— building ramps, experimenting with magnets, coding animations, and tackling real-world engineering challenges. The day was funded through a STEM and Portrait in Practice Grant, organized by Ms. Cari Kelm. Students collaborated, problem-solved, and innovated— truly shining as the critical thinkers and creators of tomorrow.

Shaler Area Students Explore the Life and Legacy of Mahatma Gandhi
Three organizations— LIGHT, the CCAC Honors Program, and AHINSA— brought a special program on Gandhi’ s life and legacy to Shaler Area High School sophomores. Presenters offered a historical overview of India’ s independence movement, personal memories of hearing Gandhi speak, and reflections from a recent CCAC study abroad trip to India. Students engaged in open dialogue before enjoying traditional Indian snacks and exploring cultural artifacts— a vivid, memorable learning experience.

Shaler Area Middle School Students Make Their Mark in Manufacturing Competition
Two Shaler Area Middle School teams excelled in Pennsylvania’ s What’ s So Cool About Manufacturing competition. Their team, partnering with Ace Wire Spring and Form, earned Second Place for Best Rookie Team, while the Mitsubishi Electric Power Products team claimed First Place for Best Career Story. Together, they also won First Place for Best Outreach Promotion Campaign. Beyond the awards, students gained an invaluable firsthand look at modern manufacturing— an industry driven by precision, technology, and real-world problem-solving.
