Join us at Kiwanis
Park to learn about safe bicycle riding and“ rules of the road.” Children are fitted for and receive a free bicycle helmet. Enter a free raffle to win a new bicycle! Light refreshments provided.

Year! The Wall That Heals at Anderson Field
Shaler American Legion Post 785 and VFW Post 9199 will conduct a Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 26, 2025 at 11:30 am. This year, the service will be held at Anderson Field at The Wall That Heals site. All are invited to attend and participate in this Service to commemorate all who gave their lives serving this great country.
SENSE AND SOUND: A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON POETRY Tuesday, May 27 at 6:30 p. m.
“ Wartorn Heart: Poems and Art inspired by the Vietnam War,” by Shaler graduate, Kathleen Trew Swazuk. Kathie signed up for the Army’ s Student Nurse Program and at age 19 was sent to the 93rd Evacuation Hospital in Long Binh, South Vietnam. She wrote most of her poems when she returned from Vietnam and hid them away. Wartorn Heart was published in 2014 and features her poetry and the artwork of many local artists from Art & Inspiration with William Rock.
