LET’ S TALK LOCAL HISTORY AT THE SHALER NORTH HILLS LIBRARY Made of Pittsburgh Steel: Margaret Fay Shaw of Canna, the Scottish Hebrides Thursday, March 13 at 2:00pm( originally 6:30pm)
Fiona McKenzie, MA will discuss her upcoming biography of Margaret Fay Shaw. This illustrated presentation will describe Ms. Shaw’ s early life in Pittsburgh and the work she carried out in Scotland which has made her one of the world’ s most important Scottish folklore collectors. COMMUNITY MURAL WORKSHOP Monday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p. m. at Shaler North Hills Library
Everyone is invited to design, paint, and create an art mural to celebrate Shaler Township’ s 125th Anniversary! Your mural will be on display May-July.
CALL FOR ARTISTS: Shaler Township’ s 125th Anniversary Art Show!
We are seeking art for a Community Showcase Art Show as part of Shaler Township’ s 125th Anniversary Celebration hosted at the Shaler North Hills Library.
• WHO— Friends, neighbors, artists of all ages.
• WHAT— Community-friendly art including, but not limited to, paint on canvas, drawings, sketches, photography. Artists may enter up to 2 pieces for this show. There will be an art template for those artists who wish to submit their work as part of a commemorative coloring book.
• WHERE— Art Submissions / drop off and registration at Shaler North Hills Library, 1822 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw PA 15116, second floor.
• WHEN— Choose from one of the three dates and times to drop off and register your art: o Saturday, May 10 from 1:00 to 4:00 p. m. o Monday, May 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. o Tuesday May 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m.
CHILDREN’ S FISHING AT FAWCETT FIELDS Saturday, April 5 8:00am – 1:00pm
The Allison Park Sportsmen’ s Club will be stocking Little Pine Creek for opening day. This event is for children 12 years of age and under who are accompanied by an adult. Bait, a few rods, and coaching will also be provided.
Fishing is permitted from 8:00am until dusk through Labor Day. All PA Fish and Boat Commission Rules apply.
