A MESSAGE FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT
Dear Shaler Area Community,
As we prepare for another outstanding school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on all we have accomplished together— and to thank each of you for the role you play in making Shaler Area such a special place.
The 2025 – 2026 academic year was filled with learning, growth, achievement, and community pride. Across every classroom, field, stage, and campus, our students inspired us with their talent, determination, kindness, and resilience. Whether through academic success, artistic performances, athletic accomplishments, or everyday acts of leadership, our Titans represented Shaler Area with excellence.
Our staff remains the heart of this district. Teachers, support professionals, administrators, and all team members in between work tirelessly each day to create safe, welcoming, and engaging environments where students can thrive. Their commitment is what makes our schools truly exceptional.
I invite you to review this annual report and see the incredible things happening in our district every day— from empowering students with handson professional skills at A. W. Beattie, to an annual celebration of community and kindness, to innovative instruction models that engage our students in meaningful ways. The work reflected in these pages is a testament to what this community makes possible together.
We are also proud to have been recognized this year as a Great Pennsylvania School and one of the Best Communities for Music Education— honors that reflect the dedication of our educators and the strength of our community.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to welcoming our Titan community back for the 2026 – 27 school year as we continue to Engage, Empower, and Excel.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARD PRESIDENT
Dear Shaler Area Community,
As we begin a new school year, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to the Shaler Area community— the families, neighbors, local businesses, and dedicated staff who make this district truly exceptional. The strength of Shaler Area has never rested solely within the walls of our schools. It lives in the connections we share, the pride we carry, and the unwavering support this community extends to our students every single day. We are fortunate to be part of a place where schools and community are not separate— they are one.
I hope you will join us in celebrating exactly that spirit at this year’ s Homecoming on Saturday, October 3rd. Homecoming is so much more than a football game— it is a reminder of who we are as a community. It is a night when alumni, families, students, staff, and neighbors all come together under the lights to celebrate Shaler Area and show what Titan Pride truly looks like. I cannot think of a better way to kick off the year.
I am heading into this school year with high hopes and a full heart. With the talent in our classrooms, the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the incredible community behind them, I have every reason to believe this will be an outstanding year for Shaler Area. Thank you for everything you do— let’ s make it a great one.
Sincerely,
James Tunstall President, Shaler Area School District Board of Directors
Warm regards,
Dr. Bryan O’ Black Superintendent, Shaler Area School District
