This park is Shaler’ s largest at 93.65 acres. It has a mile long nature trail which leads you to the waterfall. This park also has a picnic shelter and playground.

FARRELL PARK 1550 Etna Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15215 Ward 7
This 9.8 acre park is located off of Sharps Hill Road. It contains a playground, baseball field, tennis court, street hockey, and a picnic shelter. Did you know? The properties were acquired through the Project 70 Land Acquisition and Borrowing Act. A motion was made on May 21, 1966 for the Township to condemn the balance of Sharps Hill properties to make the park.
FAWCETT FIELDS 485 McElheny Road Glenshaw, PA 15116 Ward 5
Fawcett Fields is 10-acres and is located in the valley along McElheny Road and includes the Eagle Canyon Trail that leads to Wetzel Road, a separate area of approximately 2 acres which has been landscaped in a“ freeform” field design for use by the Shaler Soccer Club and a children’ s fishing area on Little Pine Creek.

The Township recently secured the property located at 111 Fall Run Road through the Allegheny County Sheriff’ s Sale process. This property was tax delinquent for several years and the Township, working with the Shaler Area School District, listed this property for sheriff sale. The three taxing bodies( Shaler Township, Shaler Area School District and Allegheny County) worked together to sell the property free and clear of all delinquent taxes. The amount of delinquent taxes exceeded $ 71,000.
This property had been an eyesore to the Fall Run community for several years. The owner of the property was deceased, and the property had become occupied by individuals who entered the house illegally. Shaler Township Police Department removed the individuals from the home, and the house was boarded up to prevent future trespassing.
The residents of the Fall Run Civic Association cleared the debris from the property in April, filling up a large dumpster, provided by the Township. On July 6th, the Township participated in the Sheriff Sale Hearing. There were three interested bidders in the property, and the Township was the successful bidder at a price of $ 41,000. The Township has applied for a grant through Allegheny County to tear the structure down so that it is an open space for future park development.
This 1.6-acre parcel is adjacent to Fall Run Park and is parallel to Pine Creek. It has fantastic access to the streamside and will be ideal for fishing enthusiasts. The Township will pursue grant opportunities to improve the parcel for additional recreation facilities for all.
