FACILITY WORK :
As we go to press , we have scheduled the upgrades to our elevator which is , amazingly , in its fifth decade of service to library patrons and staff ! As you read this , our elevator upgrade should be underway . Please check our website and social media for service updates as we strive to ensure the least disruption to our services . In the Fall of 2023 , with the support of Shaler Township officials , Shaler North Hills Library kicked off its capital campaign , “ Bottoms Up !” to raise funds to install a new , fully accessible downstairs restroom and renovate the upstairs restrooms . Thanks to Shaler Township ’ s support , your gifts , and a Keystone Grant , we ’ re making significant strides towards our goal . Although our original architect is no longer available , Shaler Township has connected us with a new engineering firm to guide us forward . We anticipate construction to begin in early 2025 . Your continued support and patience means a lot to us as we work to enhance our library ’ s accessibility and amenities .
LOVE YOUR LIBRARY ALL SEPTEMBER ! From the Director : September marks Love Your Library Month , a time when every donation makes an even greater impact thanks to the generous pro-rated match provided by The Buncher Foundation . Last year , your generosity helped us secure a $ 10,000 match from the Foundation , which is instrumental in funding our new restroom and upgrades on the second floor . As we strive to enhance our community facility further , we are now focusing on updating the library with new carpet tiles and fresh paint throughout . Additionally , with the loss of a large portion of storage , we are seeking financial support for a five-year storage rental . Your contribution , no matter the size , will directly contribute to making these improvements possible . Your investment in the library is truly an investment in our community , enriching the lives of everyone who visits and uses our resources . Thank you so much . ~ Sharon McRae
