MOLINARI’ S NEW BOOK CAPTURES PITTSBURGH PENGUINS’ LEGACY Just in time for hockey season, Reedy Press released“ The Pittsburgh Penguins: An Illustrated Timeline” by veteran sportswriter Dave Molinari. This hardcover, photo-rich volume traces the team’ s journey from its rocky beginnings in 1967 through decades of highs and lows, culminating in five Stanley Cup victories and the rise of superstars like Mario Lemieux, Jaromír Jágr, Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby.

Debuting Oct. 4, the Garden Railroad: The Age of Dinosaurs will transport guests back to the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods with moving dinosaur figures, roars and prehistoric plant life. This exhibit will continue through March 8.

APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR THE 20TH ANNUAL BOB FRYER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania is now accepting applications for its 20th annual Bob Fryer Memorial Scholarship($ 5,000) and the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania Scholarship($ 2,500)— both awarded to outstanding undergraduate journalism students pursuing careers in print, broadcasting or multimedia.
Applicants must be sophomores or juniors enrolled in accredited colleges or universities with permanent residence in one of 29 Western Pennsylvania counties. Winners will be honored at the annual Golden Quills Awards Dinner in Pittsburgh, and scholarship funds will be applied directly to their school accounts.

REGISTRATION OPENS FOR 2025 YMCA TURKEY TROT
Pittsburgh’ s beloved Thanksgiving tradition is back, with registration open for the 2025 YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh Turkey Trot, presented by UPMC Health Plan. More than 8,000 participants are expected on Thursday, Nov. 27, for the 5-mile run, 5K, and 1-mile fun run— all benefiting YMCA food pantry programs and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Since 2020, the YMCA has distributed more than 120 tons of food to local neighborhoods, and proceeds from the race continue to support these vital efforts. Participants will receive a long-sleeve hooded shirt, with options for a commemorative medal or the“ Double Gobble” challenge for those running both the 5-mile and 5K.
With a virtual option, discounted youth registration, and a festive atmosphere, the Turkey Trot has been a meaningful way for families and friends to kick off Thanksgiving while giving back to the community. n
