Two New Administrators Join QVSD

uaker Valley School District
announced the hiring of Mr.
Aaron Rea as the new principal
at Osborne Elementary School. Rea joins
Quaker Valley from the Fox Chapel Area
School District where he served as the
assistant principal of O’Hara Elementary
School. Rea also taught in Natrona
Heights, PA and Burke, VA. He holds
a Master’s Degree from Slippery Rock
University and Principal’s Certification from
Gannon University. Rea will join Quaker
Valley in Mar. 2016.
Quaker Valley School District also
announced the hiring of Mr. Scott
Antoline as the new Director of Finance
and Operations. He joins Quaker Valley
from the Rochester Area School District
where he served as the district’s business
manager. Antoline is a Certified Treasury
Professional and joins QV with more than
26 years of experience in finance. Antoline
joined Quaker Valley in Feb. 2016.
ALICE Instructor
Training at QVSD
Q
uaker Valley School District was proud to host
ALICE Instructor Training for law enforcement,
school personnel and other interested
organizations on Feb. 15 and 16. ALICE stands for Alert,
Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate. The ALICE
program provides survival strategies for violent intruder
or active shooter incidents. Quaker Valley’s School
Resource Officer, Aaron Vanatta, is a certified ALICE
trainer and hosted this program.
During the two-day training,
participants learned and practiced
survival-enhancing options for
the moments between when a
violent situation begins and when
law enforcement arrives on scene.
Training included classroom
learning and mock scenario exercises. The classroom
portion took place at Quaker Valley Middle School
while the mock scenario exercises occurred at a vacant
school building in a neighboring school district.
