Thomas Aquinas wrote, “To live well is to
work well, or display good activity.” This 13th
century theologian and saint suggested that
life and livelihood are intertwined to create
meaning and purpose. This is the philosophy
of Holy Family Academy, an affordable,
innovative Catholic high school founded
on the belief that every student, regardless
of race, religion, or economic status, should
have access to a rigorous private education
that includes career preparedness. At Holy
Family Academy all students are encouraged
to explore multiple career pathways, whether
that includes college or job training.
Upon enrollment, students experience
first-hand the fulfillment, dignity, and
challenge of work by building their own
personalized desk. Made by each student
during orientation at the Carpenter’s Training
Center, the student desk is a symbol of what’s
possible with guidance and a goal, but also
allows students to be creative and become
“makers” even before school begins!
