House Tour, invites you to the
2016 Tour – “Opening Doors
for 60 Years.” The tour features
five outstanding Sewickley
homes, including two lovely
historic homes, two homes
with extensive renovations and a newly built
“green” home with the latest in technology. The
tour will conveniently take place near the shops
and restaurants in the Village of Sewickley.
The Sewickley House Tour is the Child
Health Association’s largest fundraiser. Since
it was founded in 1923, Child Health has
contributed over $4 million to programs
and organizations in Western Pennsylvania
working directly with children. Last year, Child
Health contributed over $92,000 in funding
to 19 charities, including iCanBike@QV, The
Center for Hope in Ambridge, Riding for the
Handicapped of Western Pennsylvania, the
Sewickley YMCA, Beverly’s Birthdays and
Laughlin Children’s Center.
The 2016 Sewickley House Tour will take
place on Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14,
with a self-guided evening tour from 5 p.m. to 9
p.m. on Friday, and a self-guided day tour from
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Free parking will
be available in Sewickley. Tickets are $60 and
will be valid for both days of the tour. Tickets

The 2016 Great
American Cleanup
of PA runs from Mar.
1 through May 31.
During this period,
registered events
can get trash bags,
gloves and safety vests from PennDOT district offices, while supplies last. Events include
litter cleanups, illegal dump cleanups, beautification projects, special collections and
educational events. As part of this event, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental
Protection and the Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association will sponsor “Let’s Pick
It Up PA” – every day from Apr. 16 to May 9. During the Pick It Up PA days, registered
events will be able to take the trash collected during their cleanup to participating landfills
for reduced or free disposal.

A Sewickley native, Thomas Wendt has
been playing the drums professionally since
the age of 14. A graduate of The Pittsburgh
High School for the Creative and Performing
Arts, he has studied with master drummers
Roger Humphries, Joe Harris and Kenny
Washington. Wendt maintains a busy
freelancing schedule with Pittsburgh’s top jazz
artists such as Dwayne Dolphin, Joe Negri,
Sean Jones, Dave & Maureen Budway, Kenia,

TWO TEAMS TO THE FLL
GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP
Aquinas Academy Robotics Club participated
for the second time in the Western PA First
Lego League Grand Championship at La Roche
College on Saturday, Jan. 9. The two teams
consisted of team captains Alex Garcia and
Benjamin Stalder along with Andy D’Angelo,
Benjamin Everson, Sam Everson, Enzo Flati,
Diego Garcia, Theresa Gates, Grant Kaercher,
Rosemary Kenney, Will Kunzman, Adam
Ohayon, AJ Yellin and Brad Yocca.
