Quaker Valley seeks
public budget
committee members
R
esidents of the Quaker Valley School District are invited to
serve on the Public Budget Committee to review revenue and
expenditure projections for the 2014-15 school year.
Participation on the committee is open to parents, non-parent
taxpayers, senior citizens and business people or professionals who
operate their businesses or practices within the school district.
Director of Finance and Operations John Sheline and other
administrators will be on hand during the committee’s three
meetings to answer questions and provide further explanation of
the budget process. The committee is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m.
at Edgeworth Elementary School on the following evenings:
■ Tuesday, April 1, 2014: Review and discussion of projected
revenues
■ Tuesday, April 29, 2014: Review and discussion of projected
expenditures

Pennsylvania school director voluntarily
devotes 16-20 hours per month to school
board business. In 2013, 22 percent of
Pennsylvania board members had more than
10 years of experience.

■ Thursday, May 15, 2014: Review and discussion of proposed
final budget and proposed millage rate
This is the second year for Quaker Valley’s Public Budget
Committee. In its inaugural year, more than 30 individuals
participated on the committee. The committee serves as an
opportunity for community members to gain information about
public school finance and funding. Although the committee serves
in an advisory role, the budget is approved by members of the
school board.
