SUMMER COOL-DOWN OPTIONS
Warmer weather is coming soon! Although Ross does not operate its own pool, we can suggest three options: Bellevue Municipal Pool, North Park Pool, & Valley Brook Swim Club. Ross will again participate with Bellevue Pool to offer resident rates for Ross residents. North Park( Allegheny County funded) Pool remains an excellent family value!

“ During the summer, I kept in contact with Lana Mazur and Eloise Peet to keep up with watering and weeding,” Miller said.
The first harvest was in July.“ We did a second planting in July of green peppers and hot peppers” over the course of three different days, Commissioner Mazur said.
“ The biggest harvest,” she said,“ was the green peppers, zucchini, squash and tomatoes.”
“ My favorite part of the project,” Miller said,“ was actually a couple weeks after it was done, when I saw the garden starting to grow. This made me realize that my volunteers and I had really done something special.”
The produce that was grown from the community garden was donated to the North Hills Food Bank. The seeds that are sown in the community garden became food for the members of our community who rely on our food bank donations. A seed planted in April became healthy, fresh dinner for a child in our community in September; that child is the“ seed” planted in our community that will grow and flourish into Ross Township’ s future.
Michael Miller said,“. I am grateful to their [ Commissioner Mazur, Parks Director Peet and the Congregation at Christ Lutheran Church ] support and for the support of Troop 368, my family, and my friends who all helped me with my project.”
You have the opportunity to be the helping hands that foster the growth of our seeds! If you would like to become part of Ross Township’ s Community Garden Team, please call Commissioner Lana Mazur at 412.400.3444.

One of the objectives of the committee is to identify corridors in Ross that would most benefit from sidewalks and bike-friendly improvements. The committee will also research potential signage, lane marking and lighting improvements that may contribute to increased bike travel safety.
If you would like to be informed of the committee’ s progress or contribute to the planning process, please contact Commissioner Shaffer at commward8 @ ross. pa. us.
