N OR TH HI L LS SC HO OL DI STRI C T N E WS or th Hills School District New Ross Elementary School Principal and Food Services Director Join North Hills in the 2016-17 School Year Mary Grimm - Ross Elementary School Principal Grimm comes to North Hills from Blackhawk School District in Beaver County where she has been a sixth-grade teacher since 2013. She brings 15 years of elementary education experience in various grade-levels as well as in gifted education to Ross Elementary. At Blackhawk, Grimm updated the sixth-grade English language arts curriculum to coordinate with PA Core Academic Standards and revamped the building’s Accelerated Reader program. Prior to her time at Blackhawk, she taught fifth- and sixthgraders in Western Beaver Junior-Senior High School for eight years where she created the science curriculum for both grade levels. She also taught second-graders at Stratton Elementary School and gifted support and enrichment to kindergartners through fourth-graders at Fairview Elementary. Grimm holds a master’s degree in teaching and a principal’s certificate from the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Duquesne University. Prior to her career in education, she worked as a software trainer, instructional designer and project manager for a technology solutions company. In her spare time, Grimm is an instructor at Arcadia Gymnastics where she teaches preschool-age children gymnastics fundamentals and serves as the head cheer sponsor for the Central Valley Li’L Warriors youth cheerleading program. She was the assistant director and choreographer for Western Beaver High School’s musical productions for five years. She lives in Center Township with her husband and two children. N North Hills Students Win at State Science Competition orth Hills High School students won top honors at the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) competition at Pennsylvania State University. All four students who competed placed first in their categories, and sophomore Lauren Rebel and Class of 2016 graduate Anna Meyer notched perfect scores for their experiments. Students designed a unique experiment and were judged on their ability to conduct and convey the results of their experiment using the scientific method. PJAS is a statewide organization of middle 42 Ross Township Lindsay Radzvin – Food Services Director Radzvin comes to North Hills from Deer Lakes School District where she has been the Director of Food Service since 2006. During her time at Deer Lakes, she successfully implemented and oversaw the district’s transition to new state and federal school meal guidelines while continuing to ensure that students received nutritious meals and snacks. Prior to her time at Deer Lakes, she worked in nutrition education for Metz & Associates at North Allegheny School District. She developed and implemented nutrition education and marketing programs for the entire company and served as assistant food service director at North Allegheny supporting daily operations. She is president of the Pittsburgh Regional Food Service Directors organization, a registered dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and a member of the School Nutrition Association. Radzvin holds a master’s degree in health and rehabilitation sciences with a concentration in wellness and human development from the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nutrition and clinical dietetics from the Pennsylvania State University. Mrs. Radzvin lives in Gibsonia with her husband and two children. and high school students designed to stimulate and promote interest in science among its members through the development of research projects and investigations.
