LEARNING BLOSSOMS AT PHIPPS CONSERVATORY
Holiday Park Intermediate, Plum Middle School, and Plum Senior High School students had a blast at Phipps Conservatory’ s Eco Challenge Event! Students explored the grounds, met Ph. D. fellows who shared their research, and learned about the Fairchild Project, which promotes environmental stewardship. It was a great way to connect classroom learning with real-world science.
GIVING BACK TOGETHER
Plum Senior High School students are continually serving others and investing in their community. Recently, PSHS students teamed up with Plum Library for the 412 Food Pick-Up. Teens rolled up their sleeves to lend a hand with collecting donations, sorting, and stocking shelves for the community.
PIVIK STUDENTS EXPLORE THE POWER OF SMALL ACTS OF KINDNESS
This school year, Pivik Elementary is taking Rachel’ s Challenge to heart with an inspiring new theme:“ Kindness Is a Superpower You Can Share.” Students are focusing on how small positive actions can make a big difference in the lives of others.
AMBITION TAKES FLIGHT
This autumn, 28 Plum Senior High School Air Force Junior ROTC cadets, along with Plum JROTC instructors Colonel Paul Nosek and MSgt Kevin Butler and Plum Superintendent Dr. Rick Walsh, participated in an orientation flight with the 911th Airlift Wing at the Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station. The flight, conducted aboard a C-17 Globemaster III, lasted about an hour and was part of the Wing’ s community outreach program. This initiative aims to build awareness of the Air Force mission, highlight career opportunities, and showcase the aircraft’ s capabilities. During the flight, cadets were given an overview of the C-17’ s operational role, learned about its functions directly from the crew, and each had the chance to view the cockpit.
MOVIES AND MELODIES AT FAMILY FUN NIGHT
In September, families from O’ Block Elementary School gathered for their first Family Fun Night of the school year. Families were invited to bring their blankets, chairs, and singing voices and watch the popular movie KPop Demon Hunters. The smell of popcorn and the sound of laughter filled the air as families connected while enjoying a fun movie night. Stay tuned for future family fun nights!
