On Picture Day at O ’ Block Elementary everyone was all smiles !
COMMUNITY ARTICULATES PORTRAIT OF A GRADUATE
Recently over 80 students , parents , educators , and community leaders came together to begin to sketch a Portrait of a Graduate . Together , they considered the defining values of our district and the traits a student should cultivate in order to be a thriving member of our community .
In the coming months , we will continue to refine this sketch into a Portrait of a Graduate . This inventory will be a potent tool for ensuring that our instruction at every level is focused and strategic . From kindergarten through commencement , our students have a unified experience that gives them the skills they need to achieve their ambitions .
CELEBRATING KINDNESS
Officer J . C . Miller presented a Plum School District Police Department Challenge Coin to Camden M . recently for exceptional friendship and kindness . Camden is a fifth-grade student at Holiday Park Intermediate School . These coins are presented to students who display exceptional acts of kindness towards their classmates and staff members as part of the Rachel ’ s Challenge Program .
STUDENTS HAVE A SUPER READING NIGHT
This fall , Pivik students and parents participated in a superhero-themed evening of literacy activities . Students enjoyed reading to our service dog , Radar , playing literacy games with classroom teachers , creating superhero crafts , and solving a superhero scavenger hunt .

THE DOLLAR BANK FOUNDATION AWARDS $ 10,000 TO SUPPORT RACHEL ’ S CHALLENGE
On October 22nd , the Dollar Bank Foundation presented the Plum Borough School District with a $ 10,000 grant to support the Rachel ’ s Challenge initiative across our schools . This program , named for Rachel Joy Scott , who was killed in the Columbine school shooting , addresses the root causes of school violence , bullying , prejudice , and self-harm through student wellness programs that build connection , hope , and resilience .
