The Plum Borough School District has the pleasure of announcing the appointment of Dr . Matthew P . Thomas as the new Assistant Superintendent . Dr . Thomas , a devoted educator and lifelong learner , brings an extensive background in education to this position .
With over 27 years of experience in the field of education , Dr . Thomas has held various roles encompassing teaching , leadership , and development in curriculum , instruction , and assessment . His unwavering focus on student services has been instrumental in creating supportive environments that foster a sense of value and empowerment among all students . Dr . Thomas earned an Ed . D . in School Leadership from the University of Pittsburgh and degrees from Saint Vincent College and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown . Throughout his career , he has
34 PLUM consistently prioritized supporting students and educators in reaching their full potential . His work has emphasized collaboration , equity , and positive relationships across the educational landscape . As a firm believer in continuous improvement , Dr . Thomas is eager to engage in active listening and learning from the Plum community .
As Assistant Superintendent , Dr . Thomas will focus on curriculum , instruction , assessment , professional learning , special education , and human resources . He firmly believes that every child should have access to a high-quality educational experience . Dr . Thomas ’ approach will be centered on collaboration and listening to the needs of faculty , staff , and families . He will also work closely with the district ’ s leadership team to ensure an unwavering commitment to student well-being and to identify emerging opportunities .

Plum Borough residents who are 65 years of age or older are invited to get a Gold Card . This program allows senior members of the community to attend Plum Borough School District athletic and musical performances free of charge .
The Gold Card program includes the following for each member :

One free admission ticket to any Districtsponsored athletic event . * Playoff and Final events do not qualify .
One free admission ticket to any District-sponsored musical performance .
There is no fee to be a part of the Gold Card program . Proof of residency is required at the time of application .
